Plans and coordinates member services programs and supervises program manager(s) to implement member programs and engagement efforts. Manages the daily operations for program management by performing duties personally or through subordinates. These activities directly impact the organizations strategic and membership goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
As part of the Member Services management team establish short and long-range goals to achieve association member services objectives.
Continually evaluate effectiveness of strategies, such as fee and membership category structures, services, materials, benefits, programs and policies relating to retention of current members and acquisition of new members, and recommend changes as appropriate to attain goals.
Manage the volunteer Membership Committee, keeping them engaged and informed and facilitate appropriate activities, projects and meetings.
Manage volunteer program(s) and provide continuing development of a volunteer management strategy working with all departments on behalf of the association. Work with staff at all levels of the organization to build an association-wide capacity to identify, recruit, orient, develop and recognize volunteers.
Oversee and manage the volunteer council program and develop engagement projects and/or activities for the councils. Facilitate an orientation process for council chairs.
Prepare and manage related budgets.
Manages and negotiates relationships with vendors to ensure appropriate products/services are delivered timely, successfully, and within budget.
Represent Member Services department at various conferences, meetings and networking events.
Directly supervises 1 to 2 employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.
Minimum 5+ years related experience in association membership management.
Other Skills and Abilities
Knowledge and experience working with councils and committees in a membership organization helpful. Sensitivity to competing interests among committee members.
Ability to travel. Knowledge of a high-tech field, especially the audiovisual industry, a plus.
