OIT Audio Visual Services provides client-focused technical support and audio-visual systems support and maintenance for classrooms and conference rooms at the Georgia Institute of Technology.
As stewards of audio-visual technology at Georgia Tech, OIT Audio Visual Services assists faculty, staff and students by providing technical support, development opportunities and advice on incorporating audio-visual resources and technologies into the instructional process.
Job Purpose: Provide intermediate level technical support services for audio visual (AV) equipment and components housed within a school or major unit to include design, installation, operation and maintenance. Components include AV control systems (classroom and studio) and fiber optics.
Install AV equipment.
Service AV equipment to include replacement and repair.
May provide input to purchase requests for new AV equipment and components.
Conduct training in use of AV equipment.
Maintain current knowledge of developments in AV technology.
Confer with Office of Information Technology regarding AV issues.
Provide input to development of technical specifications in support of new AV requirements of the unit.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Work Experience: Two to four years job related experience.
Skills: This job requires working knowledge in electronics and engineering support as related to audio/visual equipment and components. Skill in fabrication and installation of electronic equipment; preparing and reading prints, drawings and schematics and electronics assembly and soldering techniques are required.
Preferred Skills: Working knowledge of AMX and Extron control devices. Experience as an AV professional in AV production and events. High degree of demonstrated customer service and hospitality skills, while setting up and install equipment such as microphones, sound speakers, video screens, projectors, video monitors, recording equipment, connecting wires and cables, sound and mixing boards for events and functions such as concerts, meetings, and presentations.
Additional Information: Hours are evening shift, M-Th 12pm-9pm, Sunday 8am-5pm (all days have one hour lunch).
Impact & Influence: This position will interact on a consistent basis with: unit AV equipment users, unit technical staff, contractors and vendors. This position typically will advise and counsel: unit AV equipment users. This position will supervise: N/A.
